Villa Santanyi by architect John Pawson and Claudio Silvestrin, Mallorca, Spain

Villa Santanyi by architect John Pawson and Claudio Silvestrin, Mallorca, Spain

Villa Santanyi is a modern architectural holiday home in Mallorca, Spain. It is the most serene place on Earth and staying there allows you to get centered and feel at one with yourself. It radiates complete calmness and serenity. This rosy-hued Mallorcan home offers an early taste of John Pawson minimalism, surrounded by almond groves and the sea.

Villa Santanyi was built for two German art dealers in 1987. Owners and architect met by chance on the beach in Porto Ercole in Tuscany and the result was the John Pawson office’s first full architectural commission, built in collaboration with then-partner Claudio Silvestrin.

In the mid-1980s, architects John Pawson and Claudio Silvestrin sought inspiration in Mallorca for a special project: a house based on tradition, yet anything but conventional. Bemusing to other German villa owners on Mallorca at the time, today the result is considered an architectural icon. These two renowned architects now returned to Mallorca to mark the 30th anniversary of their project: “The Neuendorf House.

The Neuendorf House in Mallorca was designed by architects Claudio Silvestrin and John Pawson

“The house feels like my real home,” says Neuendorf. “My parents built it over 30 years ago when I was around 2 years old. We’ve always come here every summer.”
