The Uckermark is also known as the Tuscany of the North; forests, lakes and rolling hills as far as the eye can see. At the foot of one of these hills, there is a holiday home that could be mistaken for a barn. And yet the windows are far too large. Inside, the dominant colour is black – which is why the owners chose to call it “The Black House“. The decor is minimalist and the view draws your attention to the surrounding landscape. By virtue of its restraint, the architecture deliberately puts the region’s natural beauty centre stage, allowing it to become the focus. The effect is one of being immersed in nature.
